Want to enjoy the beach with Fido this summer? Check out some of these pooch-friendly beaches:
Stone Harbor – Dogs are permitted between 80th and 84th street and must be leashed. Dogs can be on the beaches from sunrise to 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to sunset.
Asbury Park Dog Beach - During the Summer Season dogs are allowed on the 8th Avenue Dog Beach ONLY between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:30am.
Manasquan (Fisherman's Cove) - Dogs are permitted on 3rd Avenue and must be leashed.
Wildwood Dog Beach - Just look for the 25-foot high fire hydrant sculpture! The dog beach is located between Glenwood and Maple Avenue. Fresh water and dog clean-up bags are available, and the beach is open every day from 6 a.m. until dusk. All dogs must remain on leashes.
Somers Point and Longport Dog Beach - Somers Point Dog Park and Longport Dog Beach is an off-leash dog beach and park, open year-round, where dogs of all sizes can play in the sand and water. Located at the base of the Ocean Drive Bridge on the Longport side across from the fishing pier. Owners must bring your own water and waste disposal items.
Island Beach State Park - Dogs are permitted in the park but must be kept on a leash that is a maximum length of six feet. They are not allowed on the swimming beach (the lifeguard area) during the summer season or on the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail at any time.
Sandy Hook State Park - Dogs must be leashed at all times within the park. Dogs are not allowed at any time on the eastern or Atlantic shore of the Park.
Brigantine North End Beach - Leashed dogs are allowed on the city-owned north end of Brigantine Beach year-round. They are only permitted in the Natural Area from September 16th to March 31.
